Hello, my husband and I adopted Zeus on Monday (we are now calling him Max). I just wanted to let you know that we absolutely adore him and he is doing just great! He is so eager to please and he and my other dog Minnie have a good time together. We are so happy to have him join our family and I just wanted to let you know that he is just wonderful and to tell you thank you. We would love to support ARF in the future!
Appreciatively,

When I adopted Guss, who was originally Spumoni I didn't realize what a great decision I made, he is loved by all my friends/family and most of all by me! He is a fun, outgoing, goofball that cuddles every night! Looking back I wish I had gotten another from his litter! I would love to see what his brothers or sisters (Cleo or Squirt?) look like. I just can't express how happy I am that I have him thanks so much and if you ever have another litter by accident of that same kind please let me know!

We enjoyed the ARF walk at the river in Milledgeville and I tell everyone on my blog and facebook about the joys of adopting a rescue pet. Thank you so much for all you've done!

Hi all,
Just wanted you to know that Petey is doing great here at the Hudson house. He and Bella, our chihuahua, have even become friends. Petey is a joy to have and our son, Jack, is so happy to have him to play with. He is a great addition to our family.

Tucker (formerly gremlin) has grown to be a BIG boy and he's still a growing kitten! He LOVES to play soccer with tinfoil balls for long periods of time all over the house. He's a mischievous kitty who loves to jump on my desk while I study, sit on the edge of the bathtub and stealing bobbypins while I get ready and sit in the window watching birds all afternoon. But he's also a sweetheart who loves to curl up next to me at bedtime. Yep, he's come a long way since the little 13 wk kitten saved from the mouth of a dog.

Dear ARF Friends, I won the lottery!! My new home and new Moms are the greatest ever. They tell me I am spoiled rotten but that's O.K. By the way, they changed my name to DAISY from my ARF name of Flirt. Maybe I will come visit sometime.

We got our newest family member last week from ARF. He is a year old GS that looks like Rin Tin Tin and had been treated for heart worms. His name at ARF was Duke, but b/c there is a German Shepherd right behind us also named Duke, we decided to rename him Storm. We waited a week to see what his personality would be before we decided to call him Storm. Storm fits b/c he leaves a path of destruction wherever he goes! ...Chasing Frisbees is his favorite game.
He is a very sweet dog that wants to kiss you all over. Our biggest problem has been setting bed issues, as in who sleeps where ...
It's all good.

Cooper is such a great addition to our family! We searched on petfinder.com for a shelter puppy for a long time, and we finally came across him at the shelter. We adopted him right before Thanksgiving 09. We live in Atlanta, and Cooper is enjoying sleeping, chasing the cat, and the outdoors. Thank you, ARF, for posting your precious animals- so they might find their special home.

Hey Bobbie.
Did I tell you I snapped a picture of Bebe and Betsy? I've got a
couple of photos I'd like to share.
Betsy was playing
in the empty laundry basket and rolled it on top of her and then Bebe
jumped on top. Here's a picture of it, and the next one when Bebe
jumped down and made fun of Betsy.
The next two pics are of them on the bed together. I disturbed them
when taking the photos, but they posed rather well. They're still not
cuddling, but they don't mind laying fairly close.
Vic
(Betsy's adoption was the subject of one of ARF Prez Bobbie Thompson's column in the Union Recorder. |

I adopted Buster in May 2009. He had been there for 8 months and no one ever looked at him because he bounced and barked in his kennel. He has come a long way from that. I have a small apartment and he does great in it, I don't even have to crate him anymore. This picture is from our hiking trip to Cloudland Canyon. Thanks ARF for such a great dog, no one ever thought he would be capable of what he's accomplished I'm glad I got him so everyone could see what he's really made of.

She is so spoiled and loves to go for long walks and curl up in front of the fire. We can't wait for her first snowfall. Thank you!!

We adopted Riley (formally known as Savannah) February 9, 2009. My girlfriend and I went to ARF to 'look' for ideas on what kind of puppy we wanted to get. We saw her sitting there quietly and immediately knew she was the one. Riley has adapted to us very well. She is very smart. We potty trained her in just a couple of days and now she sits at the door when she needs to go out. She loves playing outside and chasing her ball around. She is great with other dogs. She is truly the perfect dog and we love her. Thank you to ARF!

We adopted Max after taking our daughter down to drop off some donations she had received from her birthday party, and we were allowed to play with the kitties. She and I just fell in love! My husband went back the very next weekend and just missed the free adoption by 1 kitty. By then it was too late, he too was smitten and we had to have Max!
Max has been the perfect addition to our already large family (we now have 3 dogs & 3 cats!). He fits in extremly well with our older animals and loves our daughter most of all. He lets her hold him and has yet to sctratch or even try to wiggle away! We had no idea we even needed another cat around, but now we are certain he was meant to live with our family, and he will always be a part of it!

Good morning Candice and staff at ARF!
First, I want to say how impressed I was with your facility. It was truly the cleanest pet facility that I have visited. I will definitely recommend your facility to others who may be looking for a lifelong pet.
I thought you might like to have an update on Tiny since this was her first night away. Of course, she wanted to check everything out in her new home. She had to explore and sniff ...
We have a ways to go, but we are very pleased with her. She is beautiful. I will let you know more later after she has had a little more time.
I am sending a few pictures of her in her new home. Will talk to you later!

Harmony is a Lab-Bird dog mix. She was born around December 15 th 2007. She has been spayed in March 2008 and is micro chipped in April. She is very calm. It was a long ride (3.5hrs) from her home in Milledgeville, Ga. to her new home here with us but she never complained. She looked at the scenery and laid down a couple of times. She hasn't barked once or jumped up on anyone. She is very shy. Her first night was good with no accidents. We went to bed around 10:30pm and I got up at 5 and took her out for a walk. Unfortunately she did not go potty. I put her back in her room and laid down for maybe 5 min and she started whining like something was bothering her. When I came down she had peed on her news papers and was afraid I was going to be upset with her. I cleaned them up and we went for another walk as of yet she still has not gone # 2. Sandy Todd and I have all taken her for long walks but to no avail. It is just a matter of time I believe. I am taking her for another walk now and then I have to go to work.

PS.She loves her duck. |

Hello ARF family - I just thought you might like to see how Ladybird has become a part of my family. I adopted her about a year ago as a supposedly scared "hotdog". Thank you for blessing us with Ladybird!

We adopted Ginger from A.R.F. right after Labor Day 2006. She has been such a joy in our lives and we couldn't ask for a better first pet! We recently left Milledgeville and moved to Atlanta where Ginger loves taking walks in our new neighborhood and running all over the house. A few weeks ago Ginger got a new sister, Samba, a 4 month old rat terrier, who we adopted from a local rescue foundation. They get along great and love playing together! Thanks so much for letting us adopt Ginger! Attached is a picture of Ginger and her new sister Samba.

Hello To my good hearted people in Milledgeville,
Just wanted to thank so much you again for taking care of me when I really needed someone help me out. Well now I'm having a GREAT time with my new family and fellow pet friends. I just finished all of my testing from the Doc's and she said I'm in super shape. My special friends name is Mouse ( three legged super mini rat terrier) plays with me ALL the time, non stop. I still manage to loose him in the trees and bushes. My day is made up of medicine in the 6am full breakfast with my favorite ICE water, lunch at 2pm and a snack at 9pm. Then its in and out ALL day from the morning to night. I have humans who take me to Stone Mtn. Park for the lake CRAZY DASH, then its back home where 4 other smaller humans run with me until its time to come in. Because I AM THE ALPHA I sleep in the big bed (only when the human dad alpha catches me, then im banished to my own bed). But life is good, im loved, protected and given total freedom to be me. I'll send you pics of my adventures as I grow and find love is found in those who help you when you need it the most, a bowl of ice water and having a 3 legged "mouse" who looks to sleep next to me every night. So thanks for finding me a good home, The Mouse is calling. So many chipmunks to chase and so little time. Oh They call Me ACE, but the dad human calls me Bro.

Just wanted to say hi and let you guys know I am doing well. Getting ready to turn 1 year old - I think. I just looked at my old picture from last year when Darby was so much taller than I was. Now I am taller than he is. He can walk underneath me and I don't even have to raise my leg, or anything.
Been doing a lot of traveling with my Mom and Dad and Darby. Took my first boat ride last weekend.
Will try and stop by to see you guys when we are in town.

Hi folks,
I wanted to share this picture of the aussie X Marvin my family adopted almost 2 weeks ago. He is officially named Buddy now and he's wonderful! He's everything I could have possibly hoped for. Playfull but not overbearing - more of a cuddler and he learns fast. Everyone who meets him falls in love with him. He's a great boy!

Thanks to all of ya'll for taking such good care of Socks. He has finished all of his medicine and is happy and healthy. Everyone that meets him falls in love because he is so sweet. He's an awesome buddy to have.

December 2007
Hey guys! Diamond is doing sooo good and the whole family just loves her to death! The first couple of days, she wouldn't eat in the mornings before we went to work, but now she's used to our schedule and is doing great! She has yet to use the bathroom in the house or kennel, she goes to the door everytime she has to potty. She loves to go running at the park with daddy! Both sets of grandparents came to see her the day she came home, all bringing gifts! She sleeps on her bed, next to our bed everynight and she hardly ever barks. Today she went to get her nails filed and the week after Christmas she's going to the vet to get her heartwarm medicine. She wasn't too crazy about a bath the first time, but we're giving her another one today, hopefully she'll do better. She does [not] chew on anything except her toys, not even the blankets in her kennel. Oh, and she loves to watch animal planet! She made herself at home very quickly, you'd think she's been here her whole life. Thanks for all your help, we'll keep you updated! Chris and Heather

Dear ARF
I just wanted to let you guys know how Griffin (formerly known as Gordy) Griff for short and Skye are doing. I had adopted Griff back in February 2007 when I had first brought him home he hid under the bed for a day, he had quickly made friends with my roommates cats. When I moved into an apartment by myself Griff was lonely so I decided it was time to get him a little sister. I adopted Skye in November of the same year when I brought her home I had expected her to be timid like Griff was and I was pleasantly surprised by how out going she was. Griff didn't know what to make of her at first but two days later they were running around like they had been together their whole life, they also sleep next to each other and clean each other. I can not thank your organization enough for allowing me to adopt these two they have brightened my life and are the perfect companions.
Thank you again,
Diana

November 2007
Good morning ARF,
I felt the need to send you a quick note about Ladybird. I think she had you guys fooled! Ladybird has not displayed the least bit of frightfulness since we got home. I was really surprised when she met my son. I was afraid she would try to hide from him or be shy. Oh no….that little rascal jumped up on Cody and off they went. We were inside of the fenced in yard. Those 2 ran and played for what seemed like forever! And boy can she run fast!! She had so much fun. At bedtime, she hopped her little butt right up in my bed and took all the covers from me. She circled around about 25 times until she had her spot beat down and there she slept all night long, right in the bend of my legs. Needless to say I felt cramped up when I awoke but I didn't want to disturb her sleep so I sacrificed my comfort for hers.
To make a long story short, Ladybird's first day in her new home was wonderful…much more than I expected. Please let Kandis know that she is getting so much love from us and seems to be so happy (except for the fact that Walmart did not have her favorite treats in stock).
More updates to come. Thanks again for letting me adopt my new family member, Ladybird.

Dear ARF,
We just wanted to drop you a line to let you know how Dega and Vegas (formerly Dutch and Dutchess) were doing. We adopted them last December and they are doing great. Happy, healthy and growing like weeds. We had them for only about two weeks when they totally took over the house but they allowed my wife and I to live here too. ARF, once again you have brought happiness into our home. They are the greatest and we reccomend to anyone interested in adopting a new family member to consider adopting a pair. They are double the fun. We will send more updates later.
Thanks ARF,
Kenny & Cindi Phillips
Dacula, GA
P.S. - Their big sisters, Charlotte and Bristol (formerly Polly and Dolly) are also doing great. |

Afternoon all. I just woke up from a nap on my new front porch. This place is really neat - but I do miss you guys. My big brother, Darby is teaching me the ropes. This morning, he taught me how to run up and down the stairs on the porch. Daddy is making sure that the porches are safe for me. He has been working on them since I came home yesterday. I have my own toys and a chew bone, which I really like. Darby is sharing all his stuff with me. Well, gotta' go. Play time. Let's see what mischief I can get into. Love you all and thank you for taking such good care of me. Let me know how Brin makes out. Cosmo |

I just wanted to write and say “thank you” for taking such good care of little Sable, who my husband and I adopted in Early June. (She's now Riley Jane Cohn J ). I know that you all face an enormous amount of heartache, and I wanted to pass along a story with a happy ending! I've attached a few pictures for you all to see what a beautiful lady Riley Jane has become, and how much happiness she has brought into our home! Milledgeville is so blessed to have a place that takes loving care of homeless pets, and I wanted you to know that little Riley Jane is happy, healthy, and abundantly loved by my husband and I, as well as her brothers Jack (dog) and Brody (cat).
Thank you again for giving her the chance to come to a loving home. |

July 2007
I finally made it to Florida. Talk about a long trip...I thought we would never get here! It was a long ride, but we made plenty of stops and I got to stretch my legs and grab a drink of water. Once we got to my new home, I was greeted by Lori and Jeff's son and his girlfriend. They thought I was beautiful! Then I got to meet Rudy...their miniature schnauzer that is a girl dog with a boy's name! Go figure! She is really pretty and has lots of toys we share. I love my new home! There is lots to do and plenty of room for me to play. We have been going on several walks each day and working on my bathroom habits. I've only made a few mistakes in the house, so I've been pretty good. We are suppose to go to the beach this weekend if it doesn't rain again. I will let you know what I think of the ocean and salty water. Who knows, maybe I'll catch a wave or two! Oh, by the way, my new name is Belle. Lori and Jeff's son thought of it because I reminded him of a Southern Belle. You know, he was born and raised in Georgia before moving to Florida, too. I hear he will be off to college soon, but comes home a lot to visit. Love and miss all of you! Thank you for taking such great care of me while I was there. I will always remember what each of you did for me and how you helped to find my new family. They promise to take great care of me! Love, Belle (Milly) |

Hi.
Just wanted to send you an update on how Murphy; has been doing
since we took him home late September from ARF. There is never a
dull moment with him. In October, we enrolled him into
obedience training. He received most improved.
His favorite activities are chewing on anything that is
plastic and wicker. Since he has been a good boy, Santa brought
him his very own dog bed that he loves to cuddle up with.
His favorite human food is Ritz crackers and cheese. He
is one spoiled baby. There is never a dull moment with him.
I believe he knows how
much we love him and how glad we are that he has become such a part of
our lives.
As you can tell, we are very proud parents and owe it all
to ARF. Thank you all again for letting us give him a happy home
and for the work you
continue to do daily.
Happy 2007!!

We adopted Skye and Boots about three
weeks ago. We are happy to say that they are both well adjusted in our
home. Skye is very playful with our daughters, Abby and Katie (ages
five and two), while Boots is more laid back and enjoys snuggling at
bedtime. Abby and Katie love both of the new additions to our family
and even though we have only had them a short time, we cannot imagine
our home without them. I would recommend for anyone who is looking for
a pet to adopt before buying at a pet store. You are getting more than
just an animal when you adopt, you are getting a new member of your
family.
